Concerns have been raised about zircon sand to be stored at Thevenard once Iluka’s zircon mine starts production in 2010.The topic was raised at a recent meeting of the Thevenard Ratepayers and Residents Group, with particular concern being the radiation emitted from the sand monazite, which contains the radioactive element thorium.
