Onagawa 2 upgrade faces further delay : Regulation: The completion of safety countermeasures at unit 2 of the Onagawa nuclear power plant in Miyagi Prefecture, in Japan, will not be completed until March 2023, two years later than previously scheduled, Tohoku Electric Power Company announced on 30 April. Japan's nuclear regulator concluded in February the unit meets revised safety standards, clearing the way for it to resume operation.

Aborigines win court fight against Swiss miner SYDNEY (AFP) 17 Dec 08 — Australian Aborigines won a court fight Wednesday against Anglo-Swiss mining giant Xstrata’s plans to divert a river and expand one of the world’s biggest zinc mines.The Federal Court ruled the government did not follow the proper process when it approved the 110 million Australian dollar (74 million US dollar) project to expand the McArthur River Mine in northern Australia in late 2006.
